Yorkton is a small town in Saskatchewan, Canada, with a little less than 20,000 people. It is a small, quiet, and tight-knit community. As anyone from a small town can tell you, everyone pretty well knows everyone. So when a quiet young teen disappeared, seemingly into thin air, it rattled the residents of this sleepy Canadian town.

Mekayla Bali was a 16-year-old girl living in Yorkton in 2016. She was a quiet and shy girl living like most teens. Her family described her as "average", so much so that they made a point of saying that was a defining trait about her. She was average. Nothing more, or less.

Mekayla struggled with her mental health. Like a disturbingly increasing number of children and teens in this country, Mekayla resorted to self-harm. Her missing persons file on Interpol's website even mentions a "fair amount of scars on her upper thigh from self harm".

Mekayla was a good student. Not one to rock the boat much. So it was very out of the ordinary for her to skip school. She was just the average teen, nothing special about her right? Well, on April 12, 2016, Mekayla would deviate from her regular routine drastically.

Strange Canadian UFO Encounter!

When watching TV about UFOs and the paranormal, you would think that any alien visitors we might have sure seemed to like the USA. So you might be surprised to hear that Canada has its fair share. So much so that the Royal Canadian Mint has made a series of collectible coins based on some of the most famous Canadian UFO sightings.

One such event happened in Manitoba in 1967. Stefan Michalak was prospecting near Falcon Lake when he saw two lights hovering ahead of him. One of the lights speed away, but the other lands about 150 feet ahead of him.

Barry Sherman was a shrewd businessman. An incredibly intelligent man, in 1958 Barry entered the University of Toronto's Engineering Science program when he was only 16, saying he chose that program because he was told it was one of the hardest. He would remain the youngest person to be accepted into that program until 2016. He graduated from that program with honors and continued on to complete a Ph.D. in Astrophysics from MIT.

In 1974 Barry formed Apotex. Using money secured from the sale of his uncle's business, Barry started a pharmaceutical empire. By 2016 Apotex would be one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in Canada, employing over 10,000 people in 2016, and made the Sherman's one of the most wealthy families in Canada.

This is what the Bentley had planned in the summer of 1982. George, 66, and Edith Bentley, 59, their daughter Jackie Johnson, 40, son-in-law Bob, 44, and grandchildren Janet, 13, and Karen, 11 all traveled from their home in Kelowna to Wells Gray Provincial Park, roughly a 3 and a half-hour drive.

After the 2 weeks passed, Bob failed to return from work. This set off some red flags for his co-workers because, in his 20 years of employment, Bob had never missed a day of work. His worried co-workers called the RCMP who began a search for the missing family.

The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon that is a wonder to behold, and one of the best places to see them is in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada. Yellowknife attracts a large number of tourists during the winter season, who are drawn to catch a glimpse of the beautiful lights.

Japanese tourists constitute a large number of the people visiting Yellowknife to see the Northern Lights. Estimated roughly 20% of the tourists coming to Yellowknife are from Japan. One such tourist was Atsumi Yoshikubo, a licenced psychiatrist who, in October of 2014 decided to visit Yellowknife to see the Northern Lights.

Jesse Galganov - Missing Canadian Hiker

Jesse Galganov is a bright young man who intended to go to med school in Philadelphia after taking a year off of school to travel the world. Jesse is a dual citizen of the US and Canada and lived with his mother in Montreal.

Jesse's plan was to go backpacking throughout South America and Southeast Asia, with his first stop being Peru where he would hike the famous Santa Cruz trail. Jesse was an experienced traveler and hiker, and it was a dream of his to hike this trail. At points, this trail can reach 15000' above sea level and isn't for novice hikers.

On September 24, 2017, Jesse left Montreal and headed to his first stop in Peru. Jesse texted his mom Alisa on September 28 and told her that he was leaving to hike the Santa Cruz trail and wouldn't be able to text her for a few days, but he said that he would be sure to text her by October 2nd.

Alisa became alarmed when Jesse did not text her by the 2nd and quickly notified the authorities of her son's disappearance.


Unfortunately, to this date, Jesse's whereabouts are unknown.
